    Elohim

    Definition:

To be strong or be in front, which suits the power and preeminence of God. It is in the plural form but used in the original language with a singular verb or adjective. This indicates the idea of a plural magnitude or majesty when used in reference to the one true God.

    Meaning:

This indicates the idea of the Trinity. The plural used with a singular verb or adjective describing God. The Hebrew language was incapable of describing the infinite God in any other way than to use this type of structure in reference to the God who delivered them time and time again.

    Scripture Support:

    Psalm 96:5
For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.

    Psalm 97:7
Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.

    Conclusion:

God needs to be sought first. He needs to be the starting point of our decision making process. He alone is powerful enough to go before us and show us the way we should go.

    Application:

I need to put God first in my life. Whether things are going good or bad, I need to be spending time with God. He doesn't want me to turn to Him just when I think I need help. He wants me to put Him in charge of everything I do.

    Adonai

    Definition:

The name Adonai is translated Lord in the Bible. It signifies ownership or mastership and indicates the truth that God is the owner of each member of the human family, and that He consequently claims the unrestricted obedience of all.

    Meaning:

Lordship meant complete possession on the one hand and complete submission on the other. God is never a capricious or unjust Master and therefore does not ask what cannot be performed, and never requires a task for which He does not equip His servants. In other words, everything God asks us to do is good and just and can be accomplished as we trust Him to enable us to do all that He has asked us to do.

    Scripture Support:

    Judges 6:15
And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.

    Psalm 2:4
He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

    Isaiah 7:7
Thus saith the Lord God, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.

    Psalm 86:12
I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.

    Judges 13:8
Then Manoah entreated the Lord, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.

    Psalm 16:2
O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee.

    Genesis 15:8
And he said, Lord God, Whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?

    Conclusion:

This name refers to the true ownership God alone has of man. We are not our own. God alone has the right to tell us what to do. At the same time He provides us with the ability to accomplish that task. Man has a choice to obey in life or wish he had in death.

    Application:

I will submit to my Lord and Master and do the things He has asked me to do while on this earth, trusting Him to give me the power and ability to accomplish those things.

    Jehovah

    Definition:

The English rendering of the Hebrew tetragram YHWH, one of the names of God. Its original pronunciation is unknown. The sacred name the Jews were afraid to say for fear of taking God's name in vain and thereby breaking the third commandment. The name is derived from the verb "to be" and so implies that God is eternal. The name Jehovah belongs especially to Him when He is dealing with His people.

    Meaning:

This name indicates the reverence and awe the Jewish people had for God. They were so respectful that they didn't want to even accidentally take the name of God in vain. What a vast difference in the way we use God's name today. When something goes wrong it is easy to just blurt out some swear word with God's name attached or to just blame God for something He didn't do.

    Scripture Support:

    Exodus 3:13-16
And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?

    Genesis 3:20
And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

    Exodus 6:2-8
And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the Lord: And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers. And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, I am the Lord, and I will bring you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments: And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the Lord your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the Lord.

    Exodus 6:20
And Amram took him Jochebed his father's sister to wife; and she bare him Aaron and Moses: and the years of the life of Amram were an hundred and thirty and seven years.

    Conclusion:

God is. He exists in the hearts and minds of His people. His name alone should be set apart and worshipped, not blasphemed.

    Application:

When I talk about God I will only do so with the reverence and awe due the name of the One who created all things. I will make no jokes about my God and creator.

    Rock

    Definition:

The name Rock refers to the fact that God is the foundation of everything. He alone is immovable and unbreakable.

    Meaning:

When building a house it is important to dig down to the rock to form a strong foundation so that over time the ground beneath the house won't begin to crumble and tear the house apart. God is the foundation for our lives that will not crumble.

    Scripture Support:

    Deuteronomy 32:4, 15, 18
He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of salvation.
Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.

    Deuteronomy 32:30, 31
How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the Lord had shut them up? For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.

    Psalm 28:1
Unto thee will I cry, O Lord my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.

    Isaiah 44:8
Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

    Conclusion:

In God there is no need to fear because He will not crumble, and as long as we trust in Him neither will we.

    Application:

I will make God my Rock. In Him will I trust. When Satan attacks me I will hide in God my Rock.

    Kaddesh (The Holy One)

    Definition:

Kaddesh refers to being sanctified. Jehovah who sanctifies. Being holy because Jehovah is God. Primarily it points to being set apart or separate. God is set apart from other gods as being Holy, and above all else in the universe.

    Meaning:

In today's time we set aside certain days to honor the birthdays of significant people in our history. The Jews set aside the Sabbath because God rested in it. Our worship of God is to take on that extra emphasis of both a time set apart to understand His Holiness and a separating of our desires to live a life honoring Him.

    Scripture Support:

    Leviticus 20:7,8
Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the Lord your God, And ye shall keep my statutes and do them: I am the Lord which sanctify you.

    I Samuel 2:2
There is none holy as the Lord: for there is non beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.

    Isaiah 40:25
To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.

    Isaiah 43:3
For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

    Isaiah 44:6
Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last, and beside me there is no God.

    Isaiah 48:17
Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

    Conclusion:

Only God is worthy of worship, for He alone is holy. Holiness refers to being set apart.

    Application:

I will set aside thirty minutes each day to spend time worshipping God and reading His Word to better understand how He would have me to live.

    Names of God El-Shaddai

    Definition:

El-Shaddai means God Almighty. El points to the power of God Himself. Shaddai seems to be derived from another word meaning breast, which implies that Shaddai signifies one who nourishes, supplies, and satisfies. It is God as El who helps, but it is God as Shaddai who abundantly blesses with all manner of blessings.

    Meaning:

God desires to bless man and provide in abundance all of mans needs. This name is indicative of a God who is powerful enough to do just that. Only an all powerful God can bless all mankind with all manner of blessings.

    Scripture Support:

    Genesis 17:1,2
And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.

    Genesis 28:3

    Genesis 49:24,25
But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:) Even by the God of thy father, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb.

    Numbers 24:4,16
He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open. He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into trance, but having his eyes open.

    Ruth 1:20,21
And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me. I went out full, and the Lord hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the Lord hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?

    Isaiah 60:15,16
Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee, I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations. Thou shalt also suck the milk of Gentiles and shalt such the breasts of kings: and thou shalt know that I the Lord am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

    Isaiah 66:10-13
Rejoice ye with Jerusalem and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her: That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory. For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: them shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides and be dandled upon her knees. As one whom his mother comforteth, so will comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

    Revelation 16:7,14
And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

    Revelation 19:15
And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

    Revelation 21:22,23
And I saw no temple therin: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it and the Lamb is the light therof.

    Conclusion:

God is powerful enough to provide His people with blessings. Not only is He powerful enough to do so; He wants to, but he also wants man to worship and obey Him.

    Application:

I will obey all that God has commanded me to do. When I blow it and make a mistake I will stop and ask God to forgive me and restore me to fellowship with Him that I might once again enjoy His blessings.

    God the Father

    Definition:

There is but one God who exists in three persons. God the Father sent His Son. The Son did the will of the Father and in so doing brought glory to the Father.

    Meaning:

The fact that there is one God who exists in Three Persons is difficult to understand. That is evident alone by the Hebrew attempt at structuring the way they wrote God's name in the plural form describing a singular verb or adjective. Yet it is important to understand in order to be able to develop a right relationship with God. Each Person of the Trinity is an infinite being. Man in his finite thinking can only offer finite explanations of how this can be. One way is seen by adding infinity to infinity to infinity. Three infinite things don't just add up to three more infinite things but one infinite thing. Similarly the Three Infinite Persons of the Trinity add up to One Infinite Godhead.

    Scripture Support:

    Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

    Luke 23:34
Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

    I Corinthians 8:6
But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

    Luke 11:2
And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Gather which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

    John 16:32
Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

    John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

    Conclusion:

God the Father can only be reached through the Son.

    Application:

I need to believe in the Son and follow His example of how to live. In so doing I will bring glory to the Father as the Son did.

    God the Son

Definition: The second person of the Trinity. The one who gave up His own life that man might have a relationship with, once again, with God the Father. Meaning: Jesus being the second person of the Trinity walked on Earth as a man and in so doing left us an example of how God wants us to behave and worship Him. Jesus was perfect like the Father is perfect. As we look at Jesus' life and develop characteristics of Him into our life we are becoming more like God wants us to be and developing that perfection which is pleasing to God. Scripture Support: John 4:42 And said unto the woman, now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world. Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Jude 1:25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Conclusion: Jesus is the Son. He provided us with the example of how to live in a manner worthy of God. Only by believing in Him can we come to the Father. Application: I will study the Scriptures to see how Jesus lived His life and apply that knowledge to my own attitudes and actions today.

    God the Holy Spirit

    Definition:

The third person of the Trinity. The one who enables man to truly worship and obey God. The guide to the truth of the Father.

    Meaning:

The Spirit is the promised guide and reminder of all that Jesus taught while He was on Earth. By keeping in touch with the Holy Spirit we are able to worship God as He truly wants to be worshipped.

    Scripture Support:

    John 4:24
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

    John 14:17
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and will be in you.

    John 16: 13-15
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hat are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

    Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

    Conclusion:

The Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. Only as one walks in the Spirit can he be empowered to accomplish the things God wants him to do.

    Application:

I will pray each day to God that He will guide me through the Spirit throughout the day so that I will be glorifying Him in all that I do. Because the Holy Spirit lives in me, I will live my life in God's will each day, allowing the Spirit to fill me with His power and to be in control of my every action.

    God is Sovereign

    Definition:

God is the supreme authority. He is not subject to any power or law which could be conceived as superior to or other than Himself. Sovereign refers to a king who has authority over a certain land or group of people. God's sovereignty is over all the earth and all creation, as He created all things.

    Meaning:

If God is in control man has no right to take matters into his own hand. Even if he does, God knew ahead of time he was going to do it. Though man may question God's authority and even His existence when things are going bad, God is still in control, knows what will take place, and is bringing glory to Himself.

    Scripture Support:

    Isaiah 45:9
Woe unto Him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?

    Daniel 4:28-37
All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar. At the end of twelve months he walked in the place of the kingdom of Babylon. The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, I king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee. And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling place shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever He will. The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles feathers. and his nails like birds' claws. And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured Him that liveth forever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom is from generation to generation: And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and He doeth according to His will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto Him, What doest thou? At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me. Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and His ways judgment: and those that walk in pride He is able to abase.

    Romans 9:20,21
Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? Hath not the potter power over the clay; of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

    Revelation 19:16
And he hath on His vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

    Conclusion:

God has every right to deal with man however He wants, because He created man in the first place. Since He created mankind and everything else, He alone is worthy to rule and decide what will take place. Only He can say what will happen to the believer and to those who don't believe.

    Application:

When it seems to me that bad things are happening to me I will not turn from God nor ask God why, but seek to know the good that God is trying to teach me through the hard and testing times that I am going through.

    God is Judge

    Definition:

God as judge indicates His authority and right to punish people for not living according to the standards of His expected behavior. In the Old Testament He delivered His people from their enemies as long as the Israelites were obeying Him. However, when they disobeyed He allowed other nations to conquer Israel as punishment for disobeying. In the New Testament there are several references to the Final Days when God will judge all men.

    Meaning:

Since God is judge and since God knows everything we do there is no way He can be unjust in His judgement. As long as we have accepted Christ as our Lord and Saviour and are living our lives in a way that we are serving Him, Christ's shed blood will in God's eyes be seen as atoning for all of our sins.

    Scripture Support:

    Job 31:13-15
If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me; What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him? Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?

    Psalm 9:7
But the Lord shall endure for ever: He hath prepared his throne for judgement.

    Psalm 50:3-6
Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people. Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice. And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself.

    Psalm 96:13
The Lord: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.

    Ecclesiastes 3:17
I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

    Ecclesiastes 11:9
Rejoice, O young man, in they youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart. and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.

    Luke 12:2-5
For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops. And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

    Acts 10:42
And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

    II Peter 2:4-9
For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgement: And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an example unto those that after should live ungodly; And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgement to be punished.

    Revelation 20:11-15
I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I say the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

    Conclusion:

God has standards for our behavior and He will one day judge us according to those standards. Those who believe in Jesus' death on the cross will escape His judgment. Those who don't will be judged and punished.

    Application:

Though I believe in Jesus that doesn't take away from me my responsibility to live according to God's standards. Nor does it relieve me of my duty to tell others about the saving blood of Christ. Therefore, I will live according to God's rules and tell others about God's love demonstrated to them through Jesus' death and resurrection.

    God is Righteous

    Definition:

The Hebrew word from which we get righteousness can also be translated as just or justice. The fact that God is righteous points to the justice and fairness with which He judges all individuals. Righteousness again indicates being separated from wickedness. It illustrates that all God does is right whether or not we think it is right in our eyes.

    Meaning:

Since this quality of God carries with it a sense of justness in judgement we can know that when we do something that God says is wrong and don't repent He will judge us the same way He would anyone else. There is no favoritism with God. Some judgments my be swift others may take a while but all are judged according to the same standard regardless of circumstances, race, creed, color, or sex.

    Scripture Support:

    Jeremiah 23:5,6
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgement and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

    Psalm 4:4,5
Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.

    Psalm 129:4
The Lord is righteous: he hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked.

    God is Peace

    Definition:

The idea of God is peace can be seen more clearly in the Hebrew word "Shalom." The word is translated in a variety of ways but points to a sense of peace that only God can provide. It is translated sometimes as whole, full, or finished. It also carries with it a sense of being well or in good health. There is the idea of fulfilling an obligation, either a contractual agreement to do a task or the repayment of a loan, as well. Overall it expresses the deepest desire of the human heart which can only be filled by the God of Peace.

    Meaning:

Although we search through many differing ways to find an inner peace we seemingly never find it. For one, buying a house may be the goal or accomplishment that will bring peace. But, once the house is bought there is the desire to seek something else to bring peace because the house didn't turn out to fill that desire. Only as we seek God and desire to know more about Him and let Him fill us can we find peace and have a feeling of completeness or fullness.

    Scripture Support:

    Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

    Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

    Isaiah 48:18
O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the see.

    Ezekiel 33:11
Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord Cod, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn form his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

    Leviticus 26:3,6
If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them; And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.

    Psalms 29:11
The Lord will give strength unto his people: the Lord will bless his people with peace.

    Isaiah 26:12
Lord, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us.

    Isaiah 66:12
For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides and be dandled upon her knees.

    Numbers 6:24-26
The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.

Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

    John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

    John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

    Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

    Luke 2:14
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

    Conclusion:

Peace can only come from God. He will give it to those who are doing His will and bringing glory to Him, but only after they glorify Him.

    Application:

I will seek to glorify God and put Him first in all that I do.
